Our Mission

GMI's (Global Medicine Initiative) vision is to advocate for international health and access to medicines at the local, national and international level. Members of GMI are leaders in developing initiatives related to access to medicines and pharmaceutical care at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.

As young professionals, our goal is to promote awareness and education regarding issues and policies that influence international access to drugs. We do this through activities that foster knowledge about global health challenges such as journal club meetings, educational speakers, fundraising and travel.

  • Leadership in international health initiatives at the Faculty of Pharmacy

  • Compassion for individuals who are striving for better health and access to essential medicines

  • Commitment to promoting excellence in patient and pharmaceutical care

  • Consciousness of global challenges to pharmaceutical care and drug access

  • Teamwork to create and support international health initiatives

As we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, Global Medicine Initiative wants to bring awareness to the pharmacy professionals who put their lives on the line to continue providing care to their communities.

The perseverance and passion demonstrated by pharmacies make us proud to be a part of this profession! During a time when continuity of care has been greatly affected, pharmacy professionals are hard at work ensuring patients are able to receive the medications they need, monitoring their medical conditions, and facilitating necessary communications with other healthcare providers. The role of pharmacies in maintaining the health of communities has never been more essential.

Let us stay healthy, resilient, and adaptable throughout this pandemic, and continue supporting our community and one another!
