The Event

Starting in 2012, GMI hosted our first annual Grant Gala. This gala was designed to fundraise and increase awareness for student internships. The evening provides insight into GMI and gives students a chance to speak about their experiences and projects. Items for our silent auction and raffle were provided by our generous sponsors. The GMI Grant Gala is an enjoyable evening of food and entertainment provided by some of our talented pharmacy students and faculty.

The Grant
The GMI grant was inspired by pharmacy students Amber-lee Carriere and Erin Ready. Erin and Amber spent the summer of 2012 in Namibia, Africa at the Katatura ART clinic. Erin and Amber worked in the pharmacy and worked to improve patient compliance by establishing a passport and stamp program to organize patients' appointments and follow-up dates in a clear and easy to follow manner.

Last year, the grant supported Pharamcist Without Borders Canada (PSF). One of the co-presidents, Shellyza Moledina presented about PSF and how the organization helps pharmacists to provide pharmaceutical and technical assistance to international hospitals.
